Turnbull Audio makes one of the most quietly compelling arguments in high-end audio: that the cables and power products connecting your system should contribute nothing of their own — no character, no coloration, no fingerprint. Just a purer, cleaner path for the signal you already have. It sounds simple. Achieving it is anything but.

The Philosophy

Most cable companies talk about what their products add to the sound. Turnbull's goal is the opposite. Their defining principle is that a truly excellent cable disappears completely, leaving only the music that was already there — more resolved, more present, and more emotionally engaging because nothing is in the way. This is a harder standard to meet than it sounds, and it drives every engineering decision they make.

The Engineering

Turnbull approaches cable design as a multi-variable engineering problem, and they address each variable with unusual rigor. Their conductors are ultra-pure, triple-annealed, and polished to a surface quality that minimizes grain boundaries in the signal path. The dielectric — the material surrounding the conductor — uses a proprietary combination of materials that reduces triboelectric noise and unwanted interaction with the signal. Vibration is treated as a real and measurable problem, controlled through multiple damping strategies including mass damping, constrained layer damping, and high-pressure compression throughout the cable assembly.

Perhaps most distinctive is their approach to electromagnetic interference. Rather than relying on conventional shielding, Turnbull developed a proprietary field obfuscation technology that creates a zone of reduced electromagnetic interaction around the conductor itself — addressing a broader range of frequencies than traditional shielding can reach. The result is a quieter, lower-noise environment for the signal to travel through.

Even the metal terminations and connector shapes are engineered for resonance control, with proprietary coatings and etching that modify the molecular structure of the metal to extend their shielding properties beyond what the raw material would otherwise provide.
